Hydraulic control valve for a rail vehicle

Requirement:

  • 2 fully worked prototype castings

Solution:

  • design of a casting mould with complex core geometry
  • conventional manufacture of the outer mould
  • laser-sintering of the one-piece sand cores using EOSINT S 750

 

Result:

  • perfect switching properties due to tool-less core manufacturing without de-moulding angles
  • series production (200 pieces/year) was switched over to laser-sintered cores to keep the geometry benefit
  • simplification of the (conventional) casting mould could be achieved, as parts of the outer contour have been integrated in the core
